Chiao currently lives in the Bay Area with her husband, three kids, and dog. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching movies and TV.

Chiao started off her career as a frontend manager and then later became an engineering manager. She has managed all types of teams - backend, mobile, and frontend, as well as managing other managers. She has worked at both startups and larger corporations. Recently, Chiao has recently been working as a career coach, helping engineering leaders and ICs navigate their careers. She is also a podcaster for the podcast, Parenthood Bytes, where she hopes to share parents' experiences, one at a time.
